Recycled Barn-Wood End Tables

In the 1800's, a barn was raised in NW Ohio. In the late 1900s, after its long life of servitude, it was moved to a new site in Canfield, Ohio awaiting its conversion into a private residence. Mainly the post and beam structure was kept, along with plenty of tongue and groove lumber, which is what these end tables are made from. I had the opportunity to work on the finish carpentry in the transformed barn and the owners where kind enough to give me some left over boards. I always relish the chance to gather interesting woods, like this dark, tight-grained Maple. There are also some attractive (yes attractive) insect markings from the Ambrosia Beetle, which leave their trademark holes with blue streaks around them. I call these tables "refined/rustic" because they demonstrate simple, clean construction while showcasing the historic natural features in the wood.
